Dear customer,

Producing Laser and Laser Measurement Equipment since 1966 Coherent has developed unique know-how in measuring laser power and energy.

Accurate power and energy meters are a fundamental necessity for users and manufacturer of lasers in order to define and control all kind of laser parameters, for example output power, long-term stability, pulse energy, noise and laser safety requirements.

Coherent have now established a new level of accuracy in those measurements.

What does this mean?

All Coherent Energy and Power sensors have different absorber surfaces like Max Black, Broadband, Metallic and UV coatings, optimized for different requirements. The measured value depends on the rate of absorption, which again is a function of the wavelength. To allow an exact absolute reading this dependency needs to be fully known and taken into account. To achieve this with high accuracy every single sensor disk of the Coherent EnergyMax™ and the "Meterless" PowerMax™ series is individually given a spectral scan. The absorption data is recorded and a correction value for each wavelength is stored in the memory chip of the sensor. Resulting in a unique accuracy over the complete specified wavelength range.

By selecting the correct laser wavelength on the meter, or in the software, the error for each wavelength is narrowed down to less than +/-1.5% for any other specified wavelength beside the calibration wavelength. Additionally the thermal compensation and the signal amplifier ensure the lowest possible signal/noise ratio and excellent linearity at all rep rates and power levels.
